  27. 1INTRODUCTION
  28. DRIV_MAN  is  a  disk  utility management tool  that  displays  pertinent 
  29. logical  disk  drive data - up to twenty-six drives - on a SINGLE  SCREEN 
  30. for analysis/storage. 
  31.  
  32. The DRIV_MAN display includes: DRIVE DATA SUMMARY with capacity, used and 
  33. free  for  each available/selected drive,  DRIVE DATA GRAPH with the same 
  34. data for each drive,  TOTAL DISK SUMMARY and GRAPH,  and INDIVIDUAL DRIVE 
  35. DATA displaying information on one drive at a time. 
  36.  
  37. Program options include: Toggle any of six sort orders for the DRIVE DATA 
  38. SUMMARY,  selectable/editable  display  DRIVE RANGE,  disk storage of the 
  39. DISK DRIVE SUMMARY display,  and the ability to run a file manager, FILE-
  40. MAN, from within the program. 
  41.  
  42. Registered users may also change the various display colors, the location 
  43. of the display sections, and various setup parameters.

  45. 2COMMAND LINE PARAMETERS
  46. The syntax for DRIV_MAN is:

  187. and may be scrolled, either by pressing the desired DRIVE LETTER or using 
  188. the cursor arrow keys. Its four portions are detailed below:

  205. EXTENDED DRIVE INFORMATION
  206.  
  207. When  [F10]  is  pressed,  all selected disk drives are  re-read  and  an 
  208. EXTENDED  DRIVE INFORMATION window is displayed for each drive  in  turn. 
  209. The   displayed   information  includes  the  drive's   sector's/cluster, 
  210. available clusters,  bytes/sector,  clusters/drive,  capacity,  and  free 
  211. space.  For drives on this system, the drive's sectors/drive and capacity 
  212. including  bad  sectors is also given.  This data,  for  non  hard/floppy 
  213. drives and network drives, is not available.

  215. ─>·To cancel the EXTENDED DRIVE INFORMATION display, press [ESCAPE].
  216.  
  217. 4[F2] EDIT DISK DRIVE RANGE 
  218. The  selected  disk  DRIVE  RANGE may be changed and re-displayed without 
  219. exiting  and  re-running  DRIV_MAN.   Especially  useful  in  a   network 
  220. environment, the range can be set for the physical drives of each system. 
  221.  
  222. ->·To  change  the  selected/displayed  DRIVE RANGE,   press  [F2].   The 
  223. currently selected DRIVE RANGE is displayed.  Edit the DRIVE RANGE, using 
  224. the control keys noted on the bottom line,  as it would have been entered 
  225. on the command line.  When editing is complete,  press [┘].
  226.  
  227. ─>·To leave the DRIVE RANGE as it was before editing, press [ESCAPE].

  229. 5[F3] STORE DATA
  230. The DRIV_MAN screen display,  of  the Disk Summary Data, may  be saved to 
  231. allow comparisons with previous or future displays. 
  232.  
  233. Using this feature,  a snapshot may be saved before cleaning up a logical 
  234. drive/drives  and then another  snapshot saved afterward, for comparison. 
  235. Another  use  is  to take Disk Summary snapshots monthly to see  how  the 
  236. system's disk status is changing over time. 
  237.  
  238. ->·To  store the screen display,  press [F3].  The screen display will be 
  239. stored  in  a  file  named "DRIVE_MAN.DAT",   and  a  completion  message 
  240. displayed.  If this file already exists,  on the drive-directory on which 
  241. the program is located,  the current data will be APPENDED to it.  If the 
  242. file  does not exist,  it will be CREATED on the same drive-directory  as 
  243. the program.

  245. 6[F4] SHELLING TO A FILE MANAGER
  246. FILE_MAN,   another shareware program from MicroMetric,  is a menu driven 
  247. file manager utility.  It,  or another file manager,  may be run directly 
  248. from  DRIV_MAN  to  copy,   move,  delete files  or  perform  other  file 
  249. maintenance functions.

  251. ->·To  run  FILE_MAN,  first select the desired drive  by  pressing  it's 
  252. letter, and then press [F4].

  254. Registered  users may change the name of the desired file manager by  use 
  255. of the configuration file.

  257. 7CONFIGURATION FILE
  258. The  optional  DRIV_MAN  configuration  file contains all of the  display 
  259. color and position variables.   These  variables are initially set to the 
  260. program  defaults.   They may be edited by use of any  ASCII  editor/word 
  261. processor.

  287. upon system registration.

  289. A  REGISTRATION  INFORMATION data entry window is displayed.  Enter  your 
  290. company  name/your name and then the system's serial number (from  inside 
  291. the front cover of the system's manual)  using the alphanumeric  keys and 
  292. the cursor control keys shown on the bottom help line.

  294. ->To exit the program without completing the registration process,  press 
  295. [ESCAPE].

  297. ->To accept  the name and then the registration number as  edited,  press 
  298. [┘].   An  informational  message will be displayed  when  the  branding 
  299. process is complete for this system. Press any key to continue.

  301. ->If  the registration number as entered is NOT valid,  pressing any key, 
  302. other  than [ESCAPE],  will allow re-entry  of  the registration  number.
